OUR TEAM
Meet the Team Behind KTH Outdoor Club
The KTH Outdoor Club is managed by a dedicated student board that organizes a wide range of activities. From trip planning and financial management to collaborating with gear providers and running safety workshops, we handle it all.
As a THS association, our goal is to unite students from KTH and universities across Stockholm to explore the outdoors together.
Join us at our monthly Event Organizing Evenings (EOE) to meet the board and take part in planning upcoming events!

If you could camp anywhere in the world with any famous adventurer?
A fun fact about you?
What is your favorite outdoor place from your home country?

Hi there, I'm Jannis! I'm the current Chair of KTH Outdoor Club.
It was at the start of a multi-day nordic ski touring trip in Sweden, when we needed to go back to the ski rental in the morning. On that way the one car managed to come off the small road and splashed into the snow. We spend two hours getting the car out of the ditch. With all this we didn’t not start our ski trip at sunrise, but at sunset at -27°C degrees
Seems underrated, but actually camping in the Alps, since it is not legal at a lot of places. I would love to have Reinhold Messner by my side.
I have secret stash of chocolate hidden at home, just in case of emergencies.
A bench with the perfect sunset view all year around in the Eiffel.
Taking pictures and keep pushing in hard conditions.
Hej! I’m Arvid and as the Treasurer of the KTHOC I take care of all financial aspects to keep the club running.
On our way back from a hike on the Padjelantaleden, our bus was held up by two reindeer on the road. With no space to escape, they trotted ahead of us for about 10 minutes, occasionally glancing back to see if we were still following. It was adorable and, sadly, the only time we saw reindeer during the entire trip.
I’d love to camp in the Himalayas sometime together with Reinhold Messner.
I have driven a snow groomer once.
In Germany 🇩🇪 I love to be around our highest mountain (Zugspitze). So many different hikes in a beautiful scenery! Luckily there are enough trails besides all the touristic routes.
Usually I'm pretty good in keeping orientation during hikes, so I could hike without Maps, at least some of the time. But I rather double check to be sure 😉
Hello everyone, it's your events manager Serena here!
I was sleeping on top of a mountain in Lofoten, right above an amazing cliff view. No tent or anything, just me in my sleeping bag under the sky. It was summer, so it never really gets dark. When I fell asleep in the evening it was cloudy, but the forecast said no rain. Around 2am I'm woken up by rain droplets. Great, right? But here's the unexpected part: when I opened my eyes, the sun was sitting right on the horizon, painting everything with an insane orange-red color! And the rain droplets were catching the light, looking like they were glowing! It was absolutely amazing and I did not expect to wake up to rain and get a light show instead
Camping with a portaledge on El Capitan in Yosemite, with Alex Honnold
I like surströmming, the fermented herring. The smell is stinky but the taste is great! Especially on buttered tunnbröd with potatoes, crème fraîche and diced onions. And of course snaps!
Everywhere in the Dolomites! So many amazing places, I can’t choose one!
I can carry super heavy backpacks when hiking or skiing, always filled with food and warm clothes
Hej hej! I'm Kat, the co-treasurer of the club.
I got stuck on a ridge hike in Switzerland due to cows. I had to stop and wait on the trail for over 15 minutes until they moved and made way.
The Daintree Rainforest with David Attenborough
Despite being bad at most things, I am constantly trying new sports and activities.
Meghalaya with ethereal waterfalls and bamboo root bridges.
I have good travel luck and am always blessed with good weather.
Hi! I'm Kailan, one of the PR managers at KTHOC!
While camping in OlPejeta conservancy, a friend of mine and I almost became lion food when a pride of lions overtook our campsite late at night.
Pandora with Sir David Attenborough. We’d totally end up filming the best episode of Planet Pandora.
I have lived in 8 countries so far 🇰🇪🇹🇿🇿🇦🇨🇭🇫🇷🇬🇧🇩🇰🇸🇪
The Masai Mara
Making the trip longer because I crashed the drone and need to go get it…
Hey! I'm Philipp, Event Manager at KTHOC!
I met this guy in the Australian outback who used a forklift to lift my 4WD and helped me fix the suspension. Saved my trip - there was nothing for the next 400km!
Patagonia with Reinhold Messner
I can wiggle my ears!
Lake of Constance (Schwäbisches Meer <3)
Sleeping anywhere, in any weather, without getting cold or uncomfortable
Hej hej! I am JP, one of the PR managers at the outdoor club.
In 2021 I was on my way to a hike in the Swiss Alps near Lausanne when I met a Swede who was joining the hike. We became friends and eventually boyfriends, and 3+ years later I’m living in Sweden all because I randomly met a cute Swedish guy in a train station, minutes before a hike.
A backpacking trip in New Zealand with Merry and Pippin. Can’t skip second breakfast.
I officiated my best friend’s wedding this summer!
Laguna de Bacalar, Quintana Roo <3
You want to jump off a cliff? I’ll jump with you. You want to paddle one more hour? I’ll paddle. You want to keep going when nobody else wants? I’ll keep going.
Hey! I’m Maja!
In the Colombian Andes I spontaneously decided to go slacklining over a 100m deep canyon for 5€ ... I am still alive!
Already on my bucket list: Camping with a view to the active “Volcán Fuego” in Guatemala
I moved to Sweden, but do not like the cold
Elbstrand in Hamburg to watch sunsets :)
My superpower when it comes to outdoor adventures is organizing: Before a trip begins, I will have already researched all insider tips down to the last detail!
Hi, I'm Marietta, one of the club's event managers.
I was on a hike to the west coast in Portugal and on the return, I met the horses running free, swung on horseback and rode back home to camp.
Fly above Patagonia in Pippi Långstrump’s incredibly stable airplane and land to camp there :D
I truly am a “Wasserratte”
anywhere at the Baltic Sea - or rather inside the waves
Ever since our propane gas was empty in the middle of the cooking session in the middle of nowhere on my roadtrip through western US, I started learning my fire building skills ;)
Hello everyone, I'm Nils!
Camping somewhere in France without checking the weather. A heavy thunderstorm wrecked and flooded the tent.
New Zealand
I do sports to be able to eat more!
Zeche Zollverein/Baldeneysee
Finding shortcuts
Hello everyone, I'm Maxime!
Thinking you're the king of off-piste skiing, only to end up stuck looking for your ski for 20 minutes, or getting to the bottom of a ski resort and not having the right pass to go back up.
In Greenland! With Mike Horn, and he speaks French too.
I need a daily dose of chocolate, it's my fuel. I'm currently addicted to KEX chocolate bars.
My favorite spot is in Brittany, called the 'Pink Granite Coast,' and it really is pink.
I'd say finding trails, some more sketchy than others
Hello everyone, I'm Fotis!
Recreating Indiana Jones scenes (by accident) with a very close friend of mine while hiking.
